
Award-winning reporter and documentary host Kara Patria David will be the honored guest on the selection of the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Ten Outstanding Chairmen year 2 on Nov. 29 at the Metro Centre Hotel.
David will deliver an inspirational message to the SK.
More than 25 SK chairmen from the province of Bohol have submitted their entries to the said search. The applicants will undergo a panel interview by the board of judges. The accomplishment reports of the applicants shall cover legislation, programs and activities in legislation and governance, environmental conservation and preservation, anti-drug abuse campaign, health services, education services, livelihood projects, community immersion and promotion of physical fitness through sports. The programs shall benefit the youth in the community.
The judges will choose the top 10 Outstanding SK chairmen who will be awarded on Dec. 30.
David is a regular reporter of GMA 7’s 24 Oras and Saksi. She is currently hosting I-Witness and Case Unclosed. She used to host 100% Pinoy and Flash Report Special Edition.
She was also named The Outstanding Young Men (TOYM) in 2007.The TOYM award is recognized as one of the country’s most prestigious recognition for young men and women whose selfless dedication to their field resulted in significant contributions to the country and the Filipinos.
A Broadcast Communications graduate from UP, Kara is the daughter of UP professor/TV host/columnist Randy David and Karina David, Civil Service Commissioner.
On the other hand, SK municipal federated presidents paid tribute to the environment in a tree-planting activity at the Sikatuna Park yesterday.
The DENR through the barangay unit provided seedlings for the planting.
By the end of the day, seedlings of mahogany, acacia mangium and local tree species had been planted in the SikatunaTree Park.
SK’s decision to join the “Protect the nature, save the youth for tomorrow” project of the Holy Name University Central Student Government is help promote environmental awareness, according to Michael John Sarabia, the project director.
SK has 47 and SK municipal and city federated presidents. Also, SK is mounting efforts to be part of the fight against global warming.
